Heat recovery from flue gases with flue gas condensers

A Zantingh flue gas condenser is installed between the boiler and the chimney. The condenser recovers heat from the flue gases of natural gas-fired overpressure boilers. This reduces gas consumption and increases the efficiency of your heating installation.

At low return water temperatures, we bring the flue gases below the dew point of approximately 58 degrees Celsius. As a result, not only is the sensible heat utilized, but also the latent heat released during condensation. This ensures maximum thermal efficiency.

Why choose Zantingh?

A Zantingh flue gas condenser extracts heat from flue gases with high efficiency while remaining practical in use. We calculate the heating surface based on the flue gas flow of your boiler, ensuring that heat is properly transferred to the return water. The vertical exchanger design limits fouling and keeps maintenance straightforward. Stainless steel in the exchanger block and the casing makes the condenser suitable for long-term use under demanding conditions. Additionally, we supply the condenser complete with the components required for monitoring, safety, and installation. This provides you with an installation that performs as required and aligns with the operation of your boiler house.

High efficiency

A flue gas condenser must match the flue gas volume of the boiler. Therefore, we accurately calculate the required heating surface relative to the flue gas flow. This ensures the heat is transferred to the return water as effectively as possible.

The aluminum fins in the exchanger block ensure excellent heat transfer. In combination with counter-flow heat exchange, the condenser extracts a significant amount of heat from the flue gases while keeping the flue gas-side resistance low.

Compact and self-cleaning

The vertical placement of the exchanger block helps to limit fouling. The condensate runs down the exchanger surface, carrying away impurities. Consequently, the condenser continues to function well and maintenance remains manageable.

The compact design requires little space in the boiler house. Inspection hatches allow for monitoring and cleaning, both on the flue gas side and the water side.

Stainless steel where it matters

A flue gas condenser deals with condensate. Therefore, Zantingh uses stainless steel in the tubes of the exchanger block and in the entire casing. This makes the condenser resistant to aggressive condensate and suitable for long-term use behind natural gas-fired boilers, even under demanding conditions.

Complete delivery

A Zantingh flue gas condenser is delivered complete with the components necessary for monitoring, safety, and installation. This includes inlet and outlet thermometers for flue gas and water, a high-limit thermostat, a flue gas-side pressure switch, a pressure relief valve for water-side safety, a limit switch on the flue gas damper, air vents, drains, and adjustable feet for placement and mounting.

Features for continuous operation

The flue gas condenser can be equipped with an integrated changeover valve and a bypass duct. This allows the flue gas flow to be directed based on the operating situation. When firing on oil, the flue gas can be discharged via the bypass.

A servo drive is available for automatic valve control. Baffles can also be adjusted for high and low water flows, ensuring the condenser matches the operation of the installation.

Application and safety

Zantingh flue gas condensers are suitable for closed central heating systems. A condensate trap prevents flue gas leakage through the condensate drain.

The safety features of the condenser can be integrated into the burner’s safety circuit. This ensures the burner is only released when the condenser and its associated safety devices are in the correct operating state. The condenser is equipped with pressure and temperature protection.
