SCIOS Inspections

A SCIOS inspection is about more than just technology. It is about the safety of people, animals, and the installation itself. Various laws, regulations, and standards apply to fuel supply lines and heating systems, including the Bal, Bbl, and various NEN standards. The installation must demonstrably comply with these requirements.

Based on these laws and regulations, SCIOS establishes the guidelines for the maintenance and inspection of technical installations. Environmental services then monitor whether these inspections are carried out correctly.

SCIOS inspections may only be performed by certified companies and inspectors. SCIOS inspectors are audited every 18 months by an independent certification body and must retake their exams every 6 years. This ensures that their knowledge and professional competence remain demonstrably up to standard.

A SCIOS inspection is not a standard check. The inspection assesses whether the installation functions safely, energy-efficiently, and in an environmentally responsible manner according to current laws and regulations.

Zantingh B.V. is certified for SCIOS Scopes 1, 2, 3, 6, 7a, and 7b. This applies to Periodic Maintenance (PO), Periodic Inspection (PI), and the Initial Special Inspection (EBI).

SCIOS scopes explained

Scope 1
Inspection of atmospheric heating boilers and indirect unit heaters with a rated nominal output greater than 100 kW.

Scope 2 and 3
Inspections of unit heaters, hot water boilers, high-temperature water boilers, and steam boilers with fan burners.

Scope 6
Inspection of the emission values of the heating systems.

Scope 7a and 7b
Inspections of fuel supply lines for building-related applications. Scope 7a applies to supply pressures up to a maximum of 500 mbar. Scope 7b applies above 500 mbar.
