In 2025, Zantingh celebrates its 90th anniversary. In nearly a century, Zantingh has evolved into a leading manufacturer and supplier of gas burners, energy-saving equipment, central heating components, and related services. This achievement is thanks to a team of skilled employees who dedicate themselves to our customers day in and day out. Our suppliers also play a vital role; close partnerships enable us to continue developing modern, high-quality installations. However, we owe our existence primarily to our customers—often long-standing relationships—who have placed their trust in us over many years. With this in mind, we look to the future with great confidence.

Zantingh in historical perspective
The year was 1935, a time marked by economic hardship due to the global depression. Partly for this reason, the founder of Zantingh decided to move his family from the province of Drenthe to the west of the Netherlands, establishing himself as a heating installer in Haarlemmermeer. Flower cultivation in Aalsmeer was on the rise, and the greenhouses needed to be heated, which at the time was done primarily with coal-fired boilers.
After the dark years of the war, business resumed, transitioning from coal to oil firing, which already included the import of oil burners from Germany and Denmark. With the introduction of natural gas in the Netherlands in the late 1960s, Zantingh developed its own gas burner, further expanded its service team, and began trading in pumps, valves, mixing controls, and other central heating materials. Consequently, Zantingh evolved from an installer into a manufacturer and wholesaler of boiler room installations and central heating components for professional use, featuring a 24-hour service department operating nationwide. The company also gained recognition abroad, leading to increasing exports.
By then, the second generation of the Zantingh family was at the helm, and in the mid-1970s, several energy crises threatened to disrupt progress. Energy conservation was the solution, and Zantingh led the way with new innovations that were eagerly adopted in the greenhouse horticulture sector. This included flue gas heat recovery and, a few years later, in-house power production with waste heat utilization through combined heat and power (CHP) couplings—a development that continues to play a major role in the energy supply of greenhouse horticulture companies today.

In the late 1990s—by which time the CHP activities had passed into other hands—another generational change took place. Greenhouse horticulture remained a key focus, and with scaling and internationalization as core priorities, Zantingh grew into a globally operating company. In addition to two locations in the Netherlands, it established its own companies in France and Mexico, along with an extensive dealer network in many other countries.
Ninety years of Zantingh history has brought much success, and we look to the future with confidence. Global energy supply faces many challenges, with the transition to sustainable, climate-neutral solutions at the forefront. As a result, energy systems at companies are becoming increasingly hybrid, and energy from sun and wind creates imbalances between supply and demand. Zantingh responds to this with, for example, electric heating solutions, the use of waste heat from industrial processes, and the application of sustainable fuels such as hydrogen and biogas. In 2025, Zantingh is younger and more dynamic than ever, which is why we continue to work on clean and efficient energy systems. We eagerly take on the challenges to ensure a bright future for our customers!
